17 october 2008, friday, Tripoli restday

This morning we got up at 07.30 and had breakfast at 08.30. The rest of the morning we did some email, contacted Luis ans Veronique in Tunisia abourt their progress. Further we worked on the way of sending email to that blogspot and finally succeeded. We had lunch at 13.00 in a good restaurant Victor had found in his Loneley Planet. It turned out to be fantastic. Their speciality was El Garra, which is a stone pot in which the ingredients are put. Then the pot is closed with bread and put in the oven for 2,5 hours. It is then served by breaking the pot and is accompanied with delicious couscous. Fabulous. It was only 50 m from our hotel. So only the Roman Arch was in between. The afternoon we spend in the medina walking through narrow streets and small shops, which were open. For the rest much was closed, because of their holy day. After that we went back to the hotel and send email and postcards. We bought the postcards and some books at the shop nextdoor, one of the only ones open at this holy day. Victor and I went into the city to get some money (from an ITM, nothing criminal). At 20.00 we had dinner and Veronique and Luis were back from their mission too. At 22.00 everybody went to bed.
